Earlier today, US Soccer released the roster for the annual USMNT January camp. If you’re not quite sure what this camp is about, read Steve Davis’ excellent report at SI.com.

The following players will have a chance to impress Bob Bradley:

  • Goalkeeper: Dominic Cervi (Celtic), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Matt Pickens (Colorado Rapids), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)
  • Defender: A.J. DeLaGarza (Los Angeles Galaxy), Sean Franklin (Los Angeles Galaxy), Omar Gonzalez (Los Angeles Galaxy), Ugo Ihemelu (FC Dallas), Zach Loyd (FC Dallas), Ryan Miller (Halmstads BK), Tim Ream (New York Red Bulls), Anthony Wallace (Colorado Rapids), Marvell Wynne (Colorado Rapids)
  • Midfield: Eric Alexander (FC Dallas), Alejandro Bedoya (Örebro), Sam Cronin (San Jose Earthquakes), Mikkel Diskerud (Stabaek), Jeff Larentowicz (Colorado Rapids), Dax McCarty (D.C. United), Brek Shea (FC Dallas)
  • Forward: Juan Agudelo (New York Red Bulls), Justin Braun (Chivas USA), Teal Bunbury (Sporting Kansas City), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)

The players convene January 4th and will have just over two weeks of training before facing Chile on January 22nd.

FFG is looking forward to watching a few players in particular.

- Juan Agudelo: The teenager scored in his November US debut. Hopefully he can follow up with another strong performance against Chile.

- Eric Alexander and Dax McCarty: McCarty and Alexander could have been FC Dallas’ starting midfield duo for the next half-decade. Instead, manager Schellas Hyndman deemed McCarty replaceable by the up-and-coming Alexander. Watching them play together could be fascinating.

- Dominic Cervi: The 24-year-old goalkeeper has yet to break into Celtic’s starting lineup. He recently started a loan spell at Dundee, which makes his inclusion puzzling. He’s very talented but apparently Dundee do not have a use for him either.

Gringos, are you interested in watching any of these young players?

It’s clear Mr. Bradley kept a close eye on the MLS. But maybe he missed FCD vs. LA because he’s got the same back line out there that FCD thrashed.

I really want to see Agudelo again, too. Can he live up to his sparkling premier in 201o?
