Both Stuart Holden and FFG have been out of commission for a week, Holden with a thigh injury and FFG with, well, the holidays.

FFG is back – obviously – but it remains to be seen whether Stu will make his return this weekend. Even if he’s up to snuff, the performance of understudy Mark Davies could lead manager Owen Coyle to give Holden an extended rest. Davies’ performance in last week’s 2-2 draw against Blackpool compared more than favorably to Holden’s normal output.

Through fourteen matches, Holden averaged 21 successful passes, 6 failed passes, 3 interceptions, 5 tackles won, and 3 tackles lost. Davies tallied 31, 5, 1, 8, and 4. His passing attempts are slightly inflated, as Blackpool, the underdogs, went up by two goals and sat back for the final thirty minutes. Still, Holden’s replacement had an outstanding game. And that’s before mentioning he assisted on one goal and scored the other. If Holden’s thigh injury lingers, he could have to fight his way back into the starting lineup.

It's very calm over here, why not leave a comment?
