Upcoming Matches to Watch

June 15, 2010 - South Africa - Football - Ivory Coast v Portugal FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010 - Group G - Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth, South Africa - 15/6/10..Didier Drogba of Ivory Coast.

Now that every team has taken the pitch, here are FFG’s suggested viewings (one per day) for the next round of matches.

June 17th: Argentina – South Korea (Group B)

Both teams are capable of playing free-flowing soccer, theoretically creating an entertaining contest.

June 18th: Slovenia – USA (Group C)

If the USA wins, they should only need a tie against their next opponent to advance. Look for Bob Bradley’s men to attack more than they did last Saturday.

June 19th: Cameroon – Denmark (Group E)

Both lost their opening match and need a win. And if you’re looking to take a break from soccer, the 19th is the day. Ghana and the Netherlands may well blowout their opponents (Australia and Japan, respectively).

June 20th: Brazil – Ivory Coast (Group G)

One of the tournament’s marquee pairings, the winner may well top the group. A start for Didier Drogba (pictured above) would only add to the excitement.

June 21st: Portugal – North Korea (Group G)

With bad form afflicting the Portuguese in their first outing – and North Korea impressing against Brazil – an upset may be in the cards.

Of course, the lackluster performances so far could make all our predictions mute. Do you agree with the selections? Any other matches you’re looking forward to?

It's very calm over here, why not leave a comment?
