We Can Build Him Better, Stronger, Faster

On Saturday, two reports painted very different pictures on the recovery efforts of Charlie Davies and Jermaine Jones.

Sports Illustrated’s Ben Lyttleton recently had the opportunity to interview members of FC Sochaux’s staff. He came away from the experience believing Davies, at best, has a ways to go before he’s back to full fitness and, at worst, has lost a step. In contrast, Soccer by Ives reported that in Schalke 04’s most recent match, Jones managed to bag the winner.

Davies still has every chance to regain his form (the team’s psychological consulted marveled at his mental fortitude), but it doesn’t look like he’ll be ready to rejoin the national team any time soon. Jones, however, should get a look sometime this fall, though it’s doubtful he’ll participate in the August 10th friendly against Brazil.

A realistic goal for both players would be to regain full fitness in time for the 2011 Gold Cup.

It's very calm over here, why not leave a comment?
